Traffic Alert: Closure of Southbound State Route 99 L Street/Maze Boulevard Off-Ramp
Beginning at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2021, the L Street/Maze Boulevard off-ramp on Southbound State Route 99 will be closed for 120 days, expected to reopen on June 25, 2021. During the closure, the contractor will be connecting the new State Route 132 alignment to the Maze Boulevard intersection.
Southbound State Route 99 travelers who wish to exit at L Street/Maze Boulevard will be directed to exit State Route 99 at I Street via ramp exit 226A. Travelers will then be detoured back to L Street via 6th Street, as shown on the map below. Detour signs will be posted along the route.

Advance Notice Traffic Alert: Closure of Northbound SR-99 Between Kansas Ave. & G St.
The SR 132 project team would like to give you advance notice that from March through early April, between the hours of 10 pm and 4 am Monday through Thursday, Northbound State Route 99 willhave a full closure and detour between Kansas Avenue and G Street. This closure and detour will only be in effect during nighttime hours and is expected to be repeated intermittently, over the courseof multiple nights. Crews will be erecting falsework over State Route 99 to construct the new State Route 132 separation bridge that will span over State Route 99. Once specific dates of the closureshave been finalized, an updated traffic alert will be issued.
Northbound State Route 99 travelers will be directed to exit State Route 99 onto 6th Street via ramp exit 226 (G-Street Central Modesto Exit). Travelers will then be detoured north using City surfacestreets to the NB Kansas Avenue on ramp as shown on the map below. All freeway ramps within the freeway closure limits will be closed concurrently. Detour signs and flaggers will be posted alongthe detour route for positive guidance during the closure.
Southbound 99 will also have a full closure and detour; however, it will not be concurrent with the Northbound full closure.

ONGOING TRAFFIC IMPACTS
Traffic Shift on Carpenter
At the end of the 58-hour closure of Carpenter Road that occurred on April 26, thru-traffic was shifted from Carpenter Road onto the New Bypass Roadway. This Bypass Road will be in service until the completion of the new Carpenter Road Bridge. The Bypass Road will be removed upon completion and opening of the new Carpenter Road Bridge over State Route 132. The re-opening of North Carpenter Road is anticipated to be June 2021.

Northbound Highway 99 Off-Ramp Closure at Kansas Avenue, 4/14-8/31/2020
On the evening of April 14, 2020, the State Route 99 Northbound off-ramp at Kansas Avenue was closed until August 31, 2020. Crews were realigning the existing off-ramp to accommodate construction of foundations for the new State Route 132 bridge that spans over State Route 99.

February 2020 Contaminated Soil Movement
On February 18, 2020, the City of Modesto will begin the excavation and containment of contaminated soils at the State Route 132 Site in Modesto. This movement will be overseen by Caltrans and the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC).

2020 Excavation: Kicking off the project ahead of schedule!
Kicking off construction ahead of schedule for the first phase of the State Route 132 West project, crews excavated 40,000 cubic yards of concrete from the site. Watch the video to the left to see what excavation looks like and to see where all that dirt is headed! |

Ground Breaking Ceremony
On October 18, 2019, the State Route 132 West project team, including the City of Modesto, StanCOG, Caltrans, and the community celebrated the Groundbreaking of the project! This groundbreaking kicked off construction for the first phase of the State Route 132-West project, with the City of Modesto taking the lead. |
