Construction for Phase I of the State Route 132 West project has kicked off ahead of schedule, and is moving full-steam ahead! In December 2019, crews began the excavation of 40,000 cubic yards of dirt from the construction site, south of Kansas Avenue. This process is called ‘clearing and grubbing’ in the construction world. In this project’s case, the 40,000 CY of dirt that is being removed, is being recycled to the State Route 120 Union Road Interchange Improvement Project.
Crews have also been hard at work relocating the utilities, a process that starts with drilling then the installation of a conduit for the utilities.
